Hey all, I'm new to kayak fishing the NW and really looking forward to slaying some halibut in May out around Neah bay - Sekiu.

Every time I go on vacation I rent a kayak and I'm not sure why I never thought of buying one sooner....bizarre it never even crossed my mind.

My fishing history:
Grew up in San Diego, lots of overnight tuna trips, lots of baja trips with a zodiac, we even drove to costa rica twice with a zodiac and dive gear.

Moved to amish country NE ohio my freshmen year in high school  :o and went walleye  fishing (well actually Saugeye in the smaller lakes http://wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/fishing/fishing-tips-by-species/saugeye ) every saturday with an amish guy that had a boat but no car to tow it.  ;D

Moved to Ocean city maryland when I was 18, bought a center console pro-line boat and went fishing every single day for a year. Caught tons of stripers 40-52" on light tackle using eels or live baitfish without weight, hundreds of keeper(18"+) flounder and tautog(good fighters), dozens of sea trout, every year.  My uncle would bring his boat down in the summer and we'd catch up to 250# bigeye and bluefin.

Finally I moved out here to Seattle 8 years ago and haven't fished more than a couple dozen times here. Mostly in Lake Roosevelt, the skykomish, and hood canal.

I'm gearing up from scratch. I've been doing tons of research and compiling a spreadsheet of items, cost, link to buy, and am chipping away at acquiring it.

The kayak I bought isn't much, a wilderness systems pamlico 135t 2 person. I have a spray skirt and am looking at options/designs for adding extra flotation/stabilizers. On the To-do list is building a pvc deck front and back to set stuff on, rod holders, a harpoon/net holder, some cleats, etc.
