We had a couple come and look us over, but never had one display at us.  More orca's needed. ;D

Great video. Love the explanation and underwater shots. Huge untapped and untried starry flounder fishing much closer than some of the salmon spots.  Thanks for posting!

Hmmmm, maybe this would be a good place for a HOW event?

It's not.  The fishing area is far from the launch and the currents are generally strong.

+1 on the currents. We've tossed the idea around a few times.

I think as long as we timed the tides and the wind was almost none existent it would be a great place for a HOW event.

Currents never exceeded 1 mph on my last trip out there. Its a good 20-30 minute paddle though. If you could have a single support powerboat, just in case, it would seem doable.

We often have first time kayakers and it is not uncommon to have a Huli or two either.  We've also never had a PB on station.

We can time the tides, but that doesn't allow much of a window. There's no where for us to set up our tables, tents, and grills. Plus we require a decent size beach or shore line to set up boats and what not. Then there's the paddle, and distance from the launch to assist possibly injured participants. It would be nice to put our vets on some big starry flounder, but that's just not the right place. We utilize a couple other south sound beaches where they catch loads of other flat fish while soaking crab pots though!

How are these staries with worms? I enjoy flounder but picking out piles of worms makes the already tedious task of filleting these fish a giant pain in the ass.

Far less than other bottom fish. I've found very few parasites in their flesh. They do have a funky leech looking worm on their skin a lot of the time though.

+1 About 5 years ago I caught big one about +/- 23" the meat was wormy and nasty even when cooked. I never kept another one.
