People seem to like the NWKA Google Map.  Any interest in an NWKA google calendar?  I know the NWKA website already has a calendar function, but no one seems to be using it.  The nice thing about this one is that if you already use Google Calendar you can add this one to your personal calendar pretty easily.    That and you can also do things like add it to your Google home page or set up notifications.  I'm thinking this would be good for big events like the Oregon Coast tournament (I added it already, check out September) or for simply posting that you plan on going fishing this weekend.

Anyway check it out. If there's enough interest I'll move it to somewhere more useful, if not, I'll let it die a quick death.  Oh... and just like the Google maps you'll have to use a Google account to add events.

Currently this calendar is set to be open to the public.  Just like the maps, if it gets abused I'll make it invite only. Anyway, still kind of waiting to hear from Zeelander and PolePole (the other admins) about whether this is a good idea or not.  Just trying to gauge interest at this point.

Gee, Brian,
i had thot that our site calendar was for use by the admins/mods only, to post group events and member b'days and such.. i hadn't a clue that anyone could post to it for planned trips and stuff..maybe thats why it wasn't used so much, we didn't know we all had access...

Just double checked the settings on the forum calendar.. yep any regular member can create and event.

The Google calendar is just another option I'm playing around with.  There are advantages to each system and I'm just not sure which is more useful at this point.

I kind of like the current calendar because the forum software supports linking to posts.  I think it's more a matter of people using it than the actual calendar choice itself.
