It's was a great day on the water. I got started 2 hrs later than what I wanted. I fished the tip of the jetty in 50 feet of water and then let the north wind blow me back into the jetty working all depths up to 18 feet. I ended up catching 5 rockfish and took home 4. I was the only one out there for most of the day. I only saw one PB that gave up. Lol. I seem to out fish then on every outing.

Glad to hear you had a successful day wood13w. I had some unexpected company show up last night but had thought of joining you out there. Couldn't make it happen today.
How were the water conditions with the east wind ? That can sometimes make landing a little sporty.
Did most of your rock fish come to bite out at the end or did you get any on the way out. I usually have a line in the water on the way out there. Makes for a slower trip out but that's not a bad thing.
Glad you made it out. I still plan on being there March 14th....maybe see you then.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Most of the wind today on the water was coming out of the NNW. Around 4, westport reported 18 to 19 gust out of the NW and it just turned everything into a washing mechine. By the time I made it back to the beach it had already started to calm down so the landing wasn't bad. I try a little on the way out, stopping from time to time but it wasn't until I was at the tip where all of the fish and bites came from. Another funny thing happened, I caught a candle fish on the sabiki jig. I never used it, just let the first hook dangle in the water. For the ling opener, I will be using live bait. It will make for a long day.

I've noticed most fish typically come from being the normal range of the rock crawlers as well. If conditions allow, the sunken jetty is best.

Where do you get live bait from?

I'm not trying to be internet cop, but I don't think live bait is legal in WA. You might want to check the regs and save yourself from any problems in case I'm correct.

Live bait is illegal in Oregon except in the salt.

I looked at WA regs and it looks like live bait provision is only for freshwater. I didn't do a thorough scan but if it was illegal for salt they'd probably have a provision in the general statewide section...
