Went down to the Ballard locks to make the yearly check on the salmon and was a little shocked on the run. Really, very few fish for this time of year. I guess w/ the cold weather they could be late (crossing fingers). Last year the viewing area was stacked with fish but this time there was about a third as many. There was a good number of hatchery fish in there so from a fishing stand point not too bad. Here's a couple that showed up.

Hey someone from Washington.. where have you guys been?  I guess YarJammer has been on too.

Anyway, what are the actual counts looking like?  There can be a lot of daily variability and as you said it might be that the cold water has delayed things a bit.

Cool pics by the way.

They only count sockeye at the Ballard locks but there were about an even number of sockeye to chinook. It's a pretty big generalization and nowhere near scientific but the count for sockeye is 32,936 so far this year as compared to 54,832 last year. That could possibly show the late run all around. The scientific community (Bsteves etc.) are probably laughing hysterically at my hypothesis...   :P

That's a temporary avatar.. I haven't decided yet if I'll just change it back in a day or two or whether it should be some sort of boobie prize that you pass on when someone else does something stupid on the site.
