Hey everyone! My name is Mike and I just actually moved here from Ohio about a month ago now. I'm use to fishing for bass, walleye, pike and panfish for the most part. I bought my Jackson Kayak Cuda 12 last year and haven't got as much seat time as I'd like :) Time to change that out here!!! I place on hitting salt and freshwater for some new species! What are the big ones out here? Well I look forward to meeting you someday until then..

Welcome Aboard!

You'll have to define "big ones", because that could mean 12" perch up to 9' sturgeon  ;) There's a fair amount of good freshwater fishing in and around Tacoma. The salt can be good in the south sound depending on a few things. Dash and Browns Point on the north end of Commencement Bay are great places to fish pink salmon in Aug, and there's always a lot of flounder/various flat fish around. Chinook and coho fishing is hit and miss this far south. There are a few really strong run of chum salmon in the late fall. Most everything else we primarily target in the ocean or up in the Strait. Get some immersion gear if you don't have any (dry or wetsuit), and get salty with someone who knows the ropes. You'll be on good fish in a hurry!

Welcome to the area.  If you like Kokanee fishing American lake is a great place.  There are also perch, bass, and trout you can target as well.  Hope to get to see you out on the water sometime.   :)
