I'll be in Port Angeles, Freshwater Bay from the 19th to 27th. Looking to connect with any kayak anglers in the area. I'm no expert, but having fun learning for the last 5 years making 2 or 3 trips per year. Love it, love it, love it. Even if the fish don't bite, my best catch is a native or the waves are trying to dump me. I know there are a few of you in the area, but most of the time I'm fishing solo. Give me a shout.

Great area & a beautiful paddle, I'll be up there fishing for halibut layer in the spring. Paddle west down the shoreline from Freshwater Bay & fish the kelp beds & foam. Have a good one & looking forward to your report.

That is definitely in the lineup. Just read on Johns Sporting Goods newsletter about Mid Channel Bank. Has anyone tried it from a kayak? The water looks too shallow, but one comment said that it is kandlefish breeding grounds. I'm sure it will get hit on the Everett Blackmouth Derby. I assume you are heading out for halibut in May. How deep to you go?

Midchannel bank is a long paddle and there can be a ton of current. If you can pick out the days with the least current it can be doable but at slack and you need to account for the paddle to and from there. Approx 20-30 min w/ low current. Double that when the water's moving.

For blackmouth in that area Diamond Point is a good kayak friendly spot.

Hmmm, water depth looks much better, too. I'll give it a try.

Maiden voyage of the Thresher 140! Made it to Diamond point (thanks Zeehawk) with the assist of Kayakrookie who scouted the launch and was eager to help and learn. Sadly, his wife had an emergency operation today, so he is out for the week. Hope and pray all is OK.

No hits, but spotted some bait and fish on the finder here and there. The forecasted 18 knot west wind didn't show up and it turned out to be a beautiful day. I was very pleased with the new boat and excited to finally get it wet. Tracking was great, secondary stability impressive and the Flexpod installation for my Humminbird worked out great. Thanks for steering me in the right direction, CJ.

Keeping the Scupper Pro for guests and grandkids.

Heading back to Diamond Point tomorrow at dawn to see if Blackmouth wake up early, or sleep in like human teens.
I plan on getting to Winter Hole (port angeles) and also have Mid Channel Bank on my radar for this week. Holler if anyone is in the area. I'm only here for the week and will be back in July.

Final score for the day:
kayak anglers 2, new friends, 2
legal rockfish 1 (limit in Area 4 east would have been 6 each, blue and black.
illegal rockfish 1

illegal lingcod: lost count after the first hour. Catch and release all day. What a blast!

Had to try the scouting report and see for myself, 9 small to legal Lings, 1 broken custom rod from battling a sealion trying rip the sea bass from under the kayak, and 1 #25+ ride along Ling that decided to let go of the sea bass right at the kayak. So at Aprils Ling opener thats where I'll be when the Small Craft Advisory flags are flying on the coast.

Oops, forgot to mention the sea lion! It stalked us, but didn't get too close.
