I've not caught a brook trout yet, and most of what I've seen has them up in the alpine lakes (which may need to thaw yet).  Are there any lakes near the south sound open that'd be good for some Brook Trout?  Preferably with yak access.  I'm a transplant to WA so all of these questions may be silly, but I may move this summer and want to have caught one by then hopefully...  Willing to drive a few hours from the Tacoma area...

Thanks!

WDFW Website lists lakes with stocked brook trout http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/Species/1261/ .  Try Lake Cle Elum.  Also one not mentioned is McGinnis Lake which requires a Colville tribal license. It's a haul to get there but they have some of the biggest brook trout in the state http://www.spokesman.com/outdoors/stories/2014/may/11/fishing-the-colville-indian-reservation-more-fish/

I get them from time to time on Offut Lake. There's a little creek mouth tucked away tight in the corner where I've caught a handful. All around 6-8"

Thanks, I will try Cle Elum...  I new that a bunch of lakes out there had them, but wasn't real sure on access.  Didn't realize Offutt had any, I've been out there a few times.  I think I know the spot, I'll give that a try also...  Thanks

It's the corner past the resort dock where it comes to a point. There are a bunch of floating logs and stuff. Cast tight to all that structure with either a fly (match the hatch), or little spinners. I've got them on both.

Try Walupt Lake down by Mt. Adams or any other lake down in that area. Walupt has some beautiful fish in it and is a great yak lake. You still have a few months before it is open though...
