Pros:
Comfy, stable, HUGE carrying capacity.  Perfect for sight casting, anchor fishing, bobber fishing and moving water.

Cons:
Heavy, slow to paddle

I'm curious about those lawn chair seats.  It seems to me - with absolutely NO experience - that they'd be uncomfortable over  long period of time.

Are they?
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

They are soooo much more comfortable than a plain old kayak seat!

Tinker,

Mark and I both spent three solid days paddling the John Day river in them and they were amazingly comfortable.  I guess, that isn't totally true, we did spend a lot of our time standing in the kayaks.  Our biggest complaint about the seats was that they didn't come out of the kayak easily enough to use as beach chairs while at camp.

Hey fred,

I have a Predator 13 in yellow that has only been used a few times (mostly just the John Day trip).   If you're interested,  I need to make room for this year's team kayak so I'm willing to sell it for $900.   I'm also willing to lend it out, if you find yourself in Portland and want to try giving it a paddle.

Very spacious comfy boat, but +1 on the seat being Kind of inconvenient at times since you cant remove it. This makes it a little different to car top. You cant just turn it upside down on most racks. If you're interested in buying one, make sure you've got a plan to haul it. Saddles, truck bed extender, or a trailer work well.

"Slow and hard to paddle" as compared to what? A Hobie...lol.. The lawn chair seat is great, I have a OK Big Game 11 with the same seat, never had a problem with it not being comfortable, it's a great seat. Who cares it's not easy to remove, it will for down flat if needed....warf

Thanks about the seat.  I walked past some NW bargains just because those seats seemed too weird to work.  Doh!

Sorry about semi-hijacking the thread.  Back to the Predator!

Heavy, yes.  Slow?  Not so much, considering.  I took my Predator MX out for a three mile paddle looking for CA Halibut today.  We have a swell, so there was no fish for me.  On the GPS, I averaged about 2.8 mph with my regular stroke.  I do 3.2-3.7mph regular stroke on the Ultra 4.7.

Im not the world's best paddler, always trying to catch up to Spot and Polepole, but it glides pretty well for a boat only 11 feet long.

And comfy?  You bet.  I spent much of the day sitting cross legged, with a can of coke.

I might be interested but what about car topping it as that was my plan.  Can seat be easily removed so you can put it on top upside down.

Thanks.

No, the seat doesn't come off. Refer to reply #6.
