This was my personal best springer.  35.5" and well north of 20lbs.

Right after you hooked it I vaguely recall you saying, "oh this ones not very big".  Glad it was!

The 1st time I saw it, I only saw the tail and I thought it was just under the surface.  It didn't look too big at that point.  Then, it came up and rolled right in front of me.   :o

Of course my buddy Jed was encouraging me along the whole time with such helpful advice as:
"WOW!  That's a big'n!  DON'T lose it!"
"Don't do anything stupid!"
"PUT THE WOOD TO IT!"
"You're gonna lose it for sure!"
"That thing has a giant adipose!"
and
"You gonna play with that thing all day?"

What goes around comes around... you are now the affectionate owner of my hate:)  Just kidding, that is a beauty!  My brother hopped on with a guide to show 5 of his business associates a good time.  They got skunked... and watched some kayakers pull out some springers.  Keep it up down there... I'll have a family fishing buddy soon!

I imagine part of the battle was Spot having to extend the net handle....that would probably be the source of many lost fish for me. Shows his experience, patience.

New picture of the month right there!

Congrats Spot!
Yeah....get rid of that ugly dude with the itty bitty fish.

Nice Fish!

Are you sure that's a Springer? I didn't think they got THAT big... :icon_cheers:
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

There's no such thing as being entitled to a springer.  You may have all the answers, spin the perfect baits in all the right waters and still come up empty.

With each skunk, confidence wanes.  With each unsatisfied hour of searching another question looms.  Should I add a spinner blade?  Should I be fishing higher in the water column?  Do I have bad bait?  Is my weight too heavy?  Too light?  Should I add scent?  Should I loose my flasher?  Do I? Should I?  Have I?  Will I?

And then, in a moment, perseverance pays off.  It's just you and a pulsating resistance transferred down 9 feet of carbon and fiberglass.   All the world is a fish.

Except or the whole perseverance part, I thought you were writing my unauthorized biography.

We saw you guys down there Saturday as I was riding with Ndogg to where there were no fish.  The Doritos Locos Taco Supreme he bought me was a good consolation prize. ;)
