My order has arrived in Ancorage and is ready for pick up.
It took less than 2 weeks to ship it up. I'm stoked

Had a blast this weekend with the new kayak  the thresher 140 is a great kayak but I ordered the 155 rei is sending up a new boat now. It seems they mislabeled the boat at their distribution center and sent a 140 on accident . However they did send me out with the brand new thresher 140 and I took it on a test ride got some scales and slime on it so I guess this is kind of a mini review of the thresher 140.

Picked up boat in Ancorage Friday at 10 am and headed south to camp spent the afternoon looking thing over and trying out some items I built for my new kayak. I waited till Saturday to head down to wisky for my first halibut kayak fishing adventure got to wisky at around 1015 am met some of the guys from the fourm it was good to put faces to names. Waited a few min then started getting ready to go out.
Cardinal 84 told me it was ok to tag along with him so I did for the first hour or so.
Launching was no big deal waves were mabey 1 foot so I just walked the kayak out a few feet sat side sadel flipped my legs up on and stared paddling. Fist thoughts were this boat is stable and quick without much effort I was moving along and 100 yards off shore.
I went out a couple hundred yards and decided it was time to get fishing I baited up with cut herring and dropped the line and started paddeling agin. Heading farther out lowering my line every 50 yards or so.
I'm getting more comfortable with this boat at this point

Now I'm fishing and just enjoying the scenery and then it happens tap tap bam I've hooked my first halibut from a kayak and its ripndrag it makes 2 runs then I get him calmed down and up next to the kayak I need a go pro next trip he's siting there waiting for my next move I guess he's about 35 lbs as I'm fumbling with my gear trying to get my harpoon ready he takes off and runs 50 yards or so then comes unhooked dang.

Rebate and start fishing again about 45 minutes go by then I catch a small one in the boat she goes in the 45 min time waiting we had some larger swells roll thru and the thresher Handel's them like a champion they were mabey 4-5 ft I conti fishing again and catch my second halibut I might be 20 lbs I harpoon it to see if my harpoon works yep it pokes holes 😝
I switch rods and start trolling toward the launch site about 1/2 way back I get a takedown but it didn't stick I paddel back to shore and land it was great the thresher 140 is plenty of kayak for fishing Alaska and if I would have chosen it I would keep it but i have a 155 on the way to Ancorage now I had a blast and can't wait to come back and do it again .
