Greetings from AK. I've been following Kardinal 84 on another site and that led me here. I don't have a YAK yet but will certainly have one in the future and I'll be better educated after reading this forum. I'm tired of boat launches and the hassle of maintaining a large boat. I've exclusively hunted with a longbow for over 20 years for the simplicity so the transition to Kayak fishing seems only fitting.

Another Alaskan!  Sweet!  Welcome!  Off the water, I learned everything here.  This group is just a bunch of enablers!

You ar going to love it.  Like you said, it;s the easy and simplicity without really sacrificing the "catching".  Yah its harder.  But in many ways, just like bow hunting, it can be VERY successful!

Welcome to the addiction AND the cure!!!  Now go get a kayak and let's fish!!!!

Thanks for the welcome Kardinal 84. You're my hero! I've been wasting my time with boat after boat sitting in the yard for one reason or another. Can't believe I haven't Yak'ed up yet. My fingerprints are all over the two Hobies on display at AK R&K. I need to sell a few boat bones from the yard and decide what Yak ship fit me best. I'm 6'2" and 220 so I'm thinking about the Pro 14 for the extra weight capacity. Might come in handy for hauling a black bear. We bought a piece of property in Anchor Point to retire on down the road. Can't imaging a better or more simple craft to haul back and forth while we build over the next few years. Hope to be geared up in time for winter kings this fall if not before. I look forward to learning the secret handshake someday on the Spit. Keep the videos and tips coming!
