I would like to here any feed back from yak fishermen in Alaska on the performance of the pro angler  series models. I have an oasis but soon realized it is limited in gear set up and to just stop the Hassel I'm looking at either a 17t or 14, I have friends and family that want to share in the adventure and I'm not sure if I Wana to get 2 14 or 17t and go from there. My 2 concerns are sitting up so high and if you want to paddle how easy is it?

If anyone has some inputs share

How is your Oasis limited?  What are you trying to put on that you can't?  There are a couple of us with ideas to share on rigging it.

Paddling a pro angler is near futility.

Side note:  I'm not in Alaska, nor have I played a doctor on TV.

Not from AK either but have ridden a PA12 for a few years. The layout of the Pas are great. Much more a boat than a kayak. They work pretty amazingly on pedal and go rather fast for their size. Paddling isn't advisable. They give you an "oar" as opposed to a regular kayak paddle and if you have to you can do it but you won't be jamming along to say the least. The PA17 is a monster. It's absolutely a boat and has some good seating options. It would seem a real bear to pedal by yourself.

I've seen a few PA's on the water. Man they are BIG but nice and roomy. I know there are at least three PA's around on this site. Otherwise you can go rent one at AK Raft and kayak. I'm trying to get a demo day going with them where they can have the new PA and outback available.

I,m not from Alaska but I do have a PA 14.  I had an Outback prior to the PA 14.  The stability is great and doesn,t feel a lot different from my outback except I can stand up in the PA.  I,m 5'10 235lbs.  I've never felt the seat was too high at it's low position affecting it's stability.  It's very comfortable and has great storage.  I like being able to leave my gear in the boat and it's ready to go fishing without having to load and unload your gear every time.  I launched on the beach at Pacific City last summer twice and one thing I noticed was when you punch through a breaker getting out the water fills the tank well and the boat will want to roll to the side until the scuppers are able to drain the water.  They drain quickly, but the first time it did it it caught me off guard a little.  You just have to get used to it.  The paddle works if you need to use it, but I wouldn't want to paddle too far.  I carry a mirage drive spare parts repair kit for emergencies.  The PA peddles easier than my outback did and seams to require less effort.  I'm not sure if the turbo fins were adjusted right though.  I love my PA.  I fish rivers, lakes and salt water.
