Hey guys, another newbie here.  I'm new to kayaking and pretty new to fishing.  Most of my fishing so far has been limited to trout, panfish, and bass at some of the lakes around here.  I've been thinking about getting a kayak for a while now so I went to the Alder Creek demo days in Vancouver last week and tried out some kayaks.  I had a lot of fun and confirmed that I wanted to get a kayak for fishing.

I'm going to the paddling festival at Sammamish next weekend and I plan on trying out a lot more kayaks there.  The Alder Creek demo was a little limited because they don't carry as many different brands, so I'm hoping to try out a lot more at the paddling festival.

I plan on starting out just fishing lakes but eventually I'm sure I'll want to move on to rivers and the Sound as well.  I know the pinks are running this year and it seems like that might be a good way to get into fishing for bigger game than what I'm used to.

I've been reading these forums and they're a wealth of information.  Figure I'll join and maybe someday I'll have some knowledge to contribute as well.  Thanks!

Welcome aboard!! Good call on trying as many boats as you can before you buy. Gig Harbor Fly Shop is a Hobie and Native dealer, so that's another demo option without driving 2 hours. The Kayak Shed in Hood River OR, or Next Adventure in Portland are two outstanding shops as well. Feel free to hit me up with questions, or to get wet since we're in the same neck of the woods! Happy hunting!
