In Puget Sound, one rod.  Haven't been able to use two for at least 10 years.

Nope. On my last yak I had it mounted within arms reach and on the current one I need to reach forward a bit. I almost never fiddle w/ it so no big deal and plenty easy to read. But the most important reason why it's up there is so it's not in the way. When it's close to you and on the side landing fish can become difficult. Also when you paddle you'll bash it with you hand/paddle every now and then. As Mooch from NorCal points out, the area from your lap to your feet is your "workspace." If you clutter that up it's gonna cause trouble.

ok, little help here. am trying to find a stalk extender for my ram mount so i can add it onto the boat..i'd like it to be up a little higher and back towards me some to make it easy to grab the rod.  searched the ram mounts site, i cant find one.. any one have ideas or know where i might come up with something ?
