I have plans for a week at Sunset Bay State Park starting the 14th, anyone going to be in that area? Where is the best area for lings? How about crabbing at this time of year, crab the ocean or the bay? Greatly appreciate any input. Thanks.

I live about 2 minutes from Sunset. The lings are a lot thicker if you paddle south about two miles to Simpson reef. I will probably be out there if the conditions are good. Im sure there will be others also. The swell forecast doesnt look too bad, but the wind has been ridiculous lately. I dont do much crabbing, but you shouldnt have any trouble finding some.

The wind usually comes up for serious at around 10:30.  As Evan said, the problem lately has been the wind which usually blows from the NNW and makes for difficult paddling back to Sunset and a rough sea when you get out past Tits Rock.   Get out there really early and head south but get back before the wind comes up. Good luck and maybe I'll see you out there.

Watch out for sharks and terrible fishing  ;)
I'll be out there if the conditions look good.

Thanks for the input. Wind is a high priority factor on my list when deciding a go or no go. Hope to see some of you there.
