I used a silcone adhesive to mount my foam block for the transducer, it leaked and I kept having to ask Zeelander what the depth was when we fished north end of Vashon.
I looked at the hardware store, they have MARINE GOOP, but the instructions say NOT to use it on polyethylene.

What has worked for you???   Thanks in advance,   Ter on Vashon

Interesting.  I use GOOP and so do a ton of people.  Have never heard a problem with it.  Which exact GOOP are you looking at.  I think there are a few variants.

all the goops say that. ignore it (just don't call me when it melts a hole in your boat  :o )
I'm kidding,, really

Mine has been stuck for 10 years and is still stuck. I think that the recommendation to not use it is because nothing sticks to our plastic boats very well. I think Lexel is the only adhesive that's actually recommended.

My advice? Mount it dry using a piece of foam to jamb it down to the hull under the seat. I have compared reading with Zee with that configuration and they always match.

My goop is Lexel and it has held up to its end of the bargain.  I cleaned the area I wanted to apply the goop with acetone to remove any of the residues/release agents from the factory (this also helps with putting stickers on the outside of the yak.)  Make sure you leave you hatch open for a while to air out and the smell will dissapate and not become permanent.

Lightly sanded and cleaned makes for a solid bond with marine Goop. It is still semi-permanent and can be pryed off with a little work. Have used it on all my yaks for 3+ years and haven't been disappointed yet.

My GE silicone adhesive failed, so I made a little corral of plumber's putty and formed the putty around the transducer, poured a little water into the corral then mushed things together --works like a champ.  Get good resolution, and an easy fix!
