Anyone planning on taking advantage of the possibility of ideal ocean conditions this weekend? Come on out to target a limit on big Lings out of Depoe Bay at 9AM Friday or Saturday.

Saturday is looking great. High tide is late, around 11, but I'll fish just outside the hole for greenling bait & then take the tide out. PC sounds like fun & maybe even better for trolling salmon, although I've had better luck for bigger lings at DB. Sadly I won't make it to ORC this year, but this trip will be a good primer for those that are fishing the tournament this year. Fish on guys & good luck to those heading to PC!

I will be there on saturday! When and where would you like to meet? Is anyone else planning on going? Any gear you recommend for the greenling? I'm just set up for bass and lings

There's not a lot of flat fish (flounder) near the inshore Oregon coast for the most part - damn fur bags.
Sure there are obviously going to be some out there, but hardly worth spending time targeting them.

Perch can be found near the rock walls.   As long as the waves bouncing back and forth off the walls are not too sloppy, a guy could get close enough to pitch a drop shot rig with clam, sand shrimp, or Gulp bait at them.   I've even thought about trying bobber fishing with a bobber stop setup with a 1/4 oz jig head and Gulp bits to wiggle in front of them.   Some tend to sit right below the rock walls waiting for the waves to knock bugs, kelp worms  and stuff off the walls/rocks into the foaming water.

This week might be a good time to see if any of these tactics work or not.

I was thinking of watering the lawn and try some night crawlers for the fun of it.

Nightcrawlers are the universal bait that can catch A LOT of different species.

Saw a video recently of someone that crushed up some garlic cloves and added them to the worm bedding.
Supposedly loads the worms up with some garlic scent.  I guess that can't hurt, huh?  8)

Is it just the two of us going? If anyone else is going do they need anything brought over?
