Shad fishing on the Willamette (video)

The spring shad run is one of my all-time favorite fisheries, so I made a video about it. I hope you enjoy it and I want to see some pictures of gobs of shad laid out on your kayak!

Nice video. How do you cook them? That fillet a shad video tutorial was uh intimidating. 

The only way I've found that I like is to smoke them using a typical salmon-type smoking brine and timing, and then I just pick through the bones. There seem to be a lot of great recipes, I've just never found a way to get past the bones, even trying the low-temp long cooking time method. Canning and pickling are other options I've heard positive reviews of.

Honestly I mostly use them for bait for sturgeon and crab, but I do like their flavor.
