Hi all,

Been lurking for a month or two, and thought it was time to finally commit to the cause.  I'm an avid paddler and occasional fisher, but rarely do the twain mix.  I used to guide paddle trips around the Channel Islands, and enjoy getting out on the lakes, rivers, and bays, around here.  Also paddle a fair bit in Montana.  I honestly use this site mostly for info on paddling locations.  Ya alls seem to be dialed in and friendly when it comes to sharing information on said spots.  I'm also beginning to harbor an itch to throw some artificial bugs from my kayak, and this sight is good at fostering such desires.  Anyway, just wanted to say hi.  See ya out there sometime.

Welcome andyjade,

Once I landed that first trout, I was hooked. As an avid fisherman my whole life, I never thought I would end up fishing from my kayak. Actually, I had never kayaked before, and thought it would be a simple, easy way to get to the fish. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way now.

Read the posts, and watch the videos, and you WILL get addicted!

Welcom aboard AJ!  Beautiful paddling locations is a nice incidental of kayak fishing.  Funny how some urban settings become something wonderous when viewed from a watery perspective.

Hey, why does the moniker andyjade sound familiar to me?

Thanks for the warm welcome, all.  Rescue, I currently paddle a Prodigy sit-in daytour boat.  Not the ideal fishing vessel, but I think it would work for the time being.  Spot, I've used the handle on both ifish and the OR surf page.  Perhaps you're a member at one of those sites?  There seems to be quite a lot of overlap with this one and the former.

Also, Spot, you are quite correct in your statement regarding urban beauty.  I've been exploring the upper Tualatin (Rood Bridge area), and find it to be quite an oasis within suburbia.

Yesterday had me paddling on Coldwater Lake on the north side of Mt. St. Helens.  Sorry, no fishing took place, but the setting was ideal.  It's nice to leave the throng of RVs at the visitor cnter, and explore the park in solitude.  A few fish were jumping on the east end, so perhaps a more elaborate trip will be warranted.

Thanks, again,

AJ

Andyjade! Welcome!

Paddling and fishing at the same time? Who'd of thunk it? When I got here in 2001 as a kayak fisherman I was astounded by the number fisherman and the number of kayakers and nobody who did it at the same time.

So what are you doing next Saturday? (warning ulterior motives ahead) ;D

One more for PDX! Look out Washingmachine boyz, bsteves is going to change the name.

I think he's referring to next weekends Saftey clinic at Henry Hagg Lake...

It's in the events section.

That makes sense.  I'm a member on both.  Again, Welcome!
