A really fun fishery in considering taking my kid to this year are the pinks off Allison point and really anywhere in the area.  I have no clue about bottom fish. It sounds like most of them travel a long ways. But there's gotta be stuff there is think.

A trip I love is Valdez on Labor Day weekend. Cohos...BIG coho fishing can be lights out freaky good. But that's more than 8 weeks out.

Look here. Maybe there's something.  https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/sf/FishingReports/index.cfm?ADFG=R2.summary&Area_key=11&RecordID=36

Do you have a smartphone?  It's not cheap with all of the inapt buys but check out Navionics.

You can go to their webapp to see what you would see on the smartphone or tablet.  The current and tides don't work on the webapp but I use it a lot to plan.  To increase detail click not the sonar Icon bottom left.  That's one of the must have inapp buys I think.

I paid the 20$ for the sonar maps .... And then found I could download land contours and overlay those as well ( bonus).

I like it, and unless you are deep in against high rocky walls the gps tracking is pretty good.   I was able to follow my ferry journey for hundreds of miles of coast that had zero cell coverage but the location seemed to track really well!

Off whiskey gulch the depth at location by sonar chart and the depth by my lowrance FF were within a couple feet - tide difference.

Very good - I like the Navionics Boating app.
