I called and made an appointment to demo a few kayaks for Mrs. Surforegon. So Wed. we drove up the Next Adventure paddle center. Couldn't make it this weekend. After trying peddle and paddle kayaks. She decided on the Hobie Outback in yellow. So now we have a peddle and paddle with my Prowler big game 2. A little heavier then I wanted with my back. But with some rope and a 8' 4'' two by four. We can load it on top of my 4 runner. Since they can't discount Hobie. They gave her an extra set of fins for the drive, T shirt. coffee cup. These guys rock. Some of the best customer service I've had.  Oh they did load it at the paddle Center. Happy wife!

Congratulations to you and you're wife! I hope to get my fiancé a Hobie Sport. I had a great experience with Next Adventure when I bought my Revo 13. Awesome people to buy a kayak from!

Hoping to make that same trip and that same purchase in a couple of weeks.
I've had two lumbar fusions and a shot in L2-3, so I am curious about your load protocol. Are you sliding the yak up the angled 2X4?

The seat is great over last years. Has a adjustable back lumbar support.

I tie a rope to my back bumper about 7' long . I tie the nose of the kayak to the line. I then lean a  2x4 on the back of the 4 runner. 2x4 sets even with the roof. Sticking out from the side. Then I lay a piece of carpet nose. My wife holds the nose so it won't move. I slide the kayak up the 2x4. About a 40 degrees. Slide till it's center of the back. Kayak is now at 45 degree. I have a rope tied to the stern. Over the front over the hood. Have the wife pull the rope while I lift the nose. Slides right on top. Hopefully this makes sense.
