Everyone, I am looking for help with proper use of me fish finder.  Elite 5, I have read the manual and watched you tube but I just can't figure out how to properly set it up.  Do you need change settings on the salt?  I have trouble depicting fish, I never see an arch ever.  I have put it on fish mode but that doesn't seem very accurate.

Maybe I just don't know what I am looking for but thought maybe someone could throw me a pointer or two and then I could throw a beer back !

My marks everything right out of the box.  I know because I som,how always dim the dang thing and I am constantly resetting it to factory settings.  If I had to guess, maybe a transducer mounting problem?  How are you mounting it and where?

Rudy,

I amusing the factory mounting location for the Tandem.  It paints structure and sounding seems good.  It just appears to never do the "arch" I just see small clumps.  Do you see the arches at WG when you paint fish? Or at you in the fish mode?

Btw you must like beer for this quick response haha

Nope...well sort of.  The default settings seem to be pretty high on sensitivity.  There is always surface clutter.  I try to run both 50 and 200 hz displays at once.  50 shows a lot more and has a wider cone, but its much clearer on the 200hz.  So yah, 50z just showed a bunch of crap.  200hz was picking up something.

HI - First, I have an Elite 4 HDI, and generally run both frequencies and then switch to the one I am happier with once I get out.   I am also using the factory settings for most things but have played with the filters and sensitivity a bit.

I dont tend to get 'clean' arches out in WG but have painted some nice singles and groups of Salmon out of Seward, so not sure if the silt level is jacking with my signal in the Cook Inlet.  I dont tend to see halibut at all, even with bottom zoomed in, but I dont expect to see them - never have reliably in any boat.

Just to hit the obvious - did you make sure your lowrance port / mounting bay is free of dirt/kelp/gravel - I have had to clean out the space between the lower plate and 'ducer once already this year.  I played with the idea of taking the cover plate off and see how that looks, but haven't done it yet.  May do that one day when I have a bit more time on my hands.
