So I try my luck. Raining and 5knt winds but very comfortable. Much more so than the blazing sun from yesterday.

Hit 35 ft of water and start fishing. The bite was definitely on. Boated 8 or 9 fish in less than 2 hours. The problem was they were all in the 15 to 25 range with a couple of 5 pounders mixed in. Determined to bring back of at least a pair of forties I keep pitching them back with the bite being on.

Then all of the sudden I'm caught in 15knt winds and super steep wind waves. Nothing crazy but it would have been if it had gotten any worse.

Being a few miles offshore, I decide to high tail it back to the launch.  Fortunately for me I ran into two fish on the way back. The only bummer....I swear the instant I cut the second fishes gills, the wind stopped and it completely flattened out.  I could have, should have fished kings but I was drenched.  I wonder where the heck I'm going to catch a July King.

At any rate, ended the day a little perturbed at Mother Nature despite two fish that should total close to 45 pounds but if I'm partially bumming about today, then I'm spoiled rotten.  LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!

  You are totally spoiled........

Have a great 4th of July up north.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Rudy,

The late run should be near WG soon correct ? Or is it different than the earlier run?

Thanks all!

Late run of reds...sort of. They travel more in the middle of the inlet down south. Kings, yes. But the only problem is there's only. Few rivers that have a late run.  So a lot fewer fish. Feeders will be around as long as there is bait. But right now they aren't there. I hate to say this but I'm going to hit Ship cr until it closes on the 13th I think for kings. May try the Kenai once. I catch a ton of smaller feeders the end of Sept so I'll try in August down there. Who would have thought summer would be the hard months???

Nice fish Rudy.  Lovely eaters - and they count!!

I had guests in town - so took a boat trip out of Seward.   We hit the only fair day in 3 over the 4th holiday, had sun, seas 2-3 and low wind.   Good news - we hit good fish, halibut, silvers, and rocks.   Bad news - no help scouting early Seward locations as we were out past Johnstone!

Ah well - had the chance to prove that Trevala heavy jig stick with AVET SX 5.3 can handle the 'butts over 100.  Hit my third ! Fish and it was a monster, likely over 120/130 range.   Being my third .... It was happily sent back to breed more!

I do have video,,but still learning the art - not ready for prime time and NOT a kayak fish so I'll save that one for fB.

While in town confirmed rumors of silvers in Pony and Agnes coves.  Still no reports of close fish BUT observed one snagged silver at/near the harbor mouth ( first 'creek' to the south)

Happy 4th All!!

Thanks all!

A little better video.  Didn't get all the shots on Friday not sure what was going on.  But here's my weekend.  Did what I hope is the smart thing and came back Saturday night to avoid the madhouse rush back into town.
