Went camping with the family from the 9th-11th. Great weather, caught a couple 15 lb halibut at whiskey gulch and my 4 yr old caught a cod off the paddle board. (I didn't have the heart to tell him they are loaded with worms and we usually throw them back). Looking forward to the derby on the 18th. Any more details on that? if you can't go fishing, fly a kite

 Swansonsilver,

Love the shot of your son fish a kite...great picture.
The bloody deck shot is cool too.

When I lived in Soldotna I used to fish the Swanson River for silvers in August. Fun times that I think of every time I see one of your posts.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

I've got many great memories of the Swanson as well. Pulled some nice silvers out of there. Nothing like fishing a river all by yourself.......and the bears.

Cool deal. Way to get your kid on fish. My kid gutted out hours of halibut fishing so I'm thinking about letting him do some catching in Homer with the pollock.  To them it's still a blast!!

Thanks for posting. Love the Alaska reports rolling in!!
