It's definitely fishable this week.  It's just not the best timing for catching the magic morning high tides.

There'll be a lot of water moving on the incomings so your best bet is to wait until the last couple of hours before the high.  Otherwise, you'll have a long wait or a hard paddle to get back.

Yeah, I'm not saying one can't catch fish there for the next week and a half, it's just that the window of time you can have your line in the water and in the zone is much smaller with larger tide swings. In my mind you've got about an hour before and an hour after slack where the currents are manageable from a kayak. And keep in mind, slack current does not mean traditional high tide or low tide at the mouth of the Columbia.

Here's a neat trick for y'all.  A lot of times, the wind will be onshore this time of year which makes mooching the start of the outgoing tide a really good alternative.  Instead of fighting the wind and salt wedge and getting your gear all tangled, take off your flasher and dropper, put on a 4oz or 6oz bannana weight directly to your mooching rig and jig in long slow, exagerated sweeps.  If you find you're moving off your prefered fishing spot, simply drag the whole thing back to your spot and then start mooching again.

This has turned many of my crappy or marginal days into magic moments.  And, there's nothing as exciting as feeding your bait to a hungry salmon and then slamming the hook home.
