I just saw that the Anchorage REI has an upcoming clinic on kayak fishing!  I'm so happy! :occasion14:
I figure I'll sit in and just "happen" to take a stack of NWKA stickers with me. Maybe I won't be the only Alaskan for much longer.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day...
Teach a man to fish and he will sit at his miserable job all day wishing he was fishing...

Dunno, probably in-house staff. I'll let you know.

Is it okay if I print up cards with the NWKA logo and you as point of contact?

Now that my wife is out of grad school, we are contemplating whether we want to stay in PDX or not.  She discovered a pretty interesting job opening in Anchorage.  How would you rate the kayak fishing opportunities there vs. Juneau?

Anchorage has far more available....  You often just have to drive a couple of hours to get to it...

In Anchorage proper, King, Coho, Pink and Chum Salmon, Pike, and Trout...  Withing 2-3 hours, the Kenai Peninsula, the Little Susitna River and other watersheds, and several other great rivers with Reds, King, Coho, Pinks, Chum, Pike, Trout, Lake Trout, Dolly Varden, Grayling...  Not to mention the Halibut, Lingcod, Black RockFish, Yellow-eye Rockfish, and numerous other rockfish species available in ther salt in Homer, Kenai, Seward, etc...

Add to this, float plane trips to remote areas for Inconnu, and all of the above species...  Plus, the have Fred Meyers....  An upscale Super Wal-Mart type store that makes Target look like a K-Mart.

If you cannot tell, I would move there myself, if the wfie would let me...

ArmyJim,

If you remember correctly, I told you when I was there that I was jealous of you and your wife for being able to live in paradise!   :)

Troy, we have Fred Meyers all over the NW.  They are not all Super Wal-Mart type stores.  Kind of hit and miss IMO.  Some are nice.  Others, not so nice.  Sounds like they got a good one in Anchorage.

Actually the one in Soldotna was the one that impressed me and JonS the most.
