On August 9 I caught three lake trout on Lindbergh Lake, including this 30 inch fish.  Lake trout get a lot bigger on many lakes in Montana, but I don't catch many lake trout over 30 inches in Lindbergh Lake.  This may be because lake trout haven't been in Lindbergh Lake very long.  FWP first caught lake trout in Lindbergh Lake in 2008.  However, a 30 inch lake trout is pretty old, so they were probably in the lake well before 2008.



On August 8 I caught 10 kokanee on the Helena Regulating Reservoir.  7 of them were between 16 and 17 inches long.  About a third of the fish were starting to change color, and in a couple cases were developing a hooked jaw, as spawning season approaches, but they still tasted great.

Nice fish.  Lindbergh looks like a beautiful lake.  Were you using an inline flasher for the Mac?

Nice fish.  Lindbergh looks like a beautiful lake.  Were you using an inline flasher for the Mac?
For that fish, I was using a dodger a foot and a half in front of a B-2 squid with a little cut bait on it.  But I catch lake trout on a variety of flatfish and rapala type lures and flexible baits, sometimes with an inline flasher in front of them.
