Wels catfish.... hopefully caught in Europe.

If it was caught here in the Pacific Northwest it would be worth 6.5 pts / inch and and someone should fill this report out..

yepp, pretty much.  figured id do a German/European fish porn dump.  BTW that Barbell is one of the largest caught in the country this year,  the Germans lost their minds over it,  i just laughed.  We were fishing the Mosel for Asp(if you have to asp, you'll never know)  and I caught it on a crankbait.

Fil.
If you ever get into the Aschaffenburg area, [Spessarts] look for the little town of Mespelbrun. There's a wasserschloss there that was once home to the Brothers Grimm. In the pond surrounding the burg, are dozens of German Brown Trout. Most are over 22 inches long. Might be interesting to surreptitiously try to catch one.  ;D

Also be a nice place to take the frau on a weekend trip. You could also visit the pink palace in A'burg that weekend too. There's a gasthaus near there called Falstaff that's a bit historical you might like

Thanks for the tip WR,  I'll have to check it out.
Todd,  thes a story on the long arm reach for that one,  I was trying to cover my face in shame..
Couple days before that some buddies and I went fishing a section of the Nahe,  before we started fishibg we made an informal wager that whoever caught thw biggest fiah would recieve the title of "fishmeister of hockstaedten"  I took it by a landslide with three giant chubs,  but they decided "Fil the Chubmaster" was a better name.  Two days later I was in bavaria for work and was fishing a little stream in my free time,  caught another piggy chub.  This is how bad nicknames stick so I held him up to cover my face.  Clearly not fooling anyone.

Yeah Todd, I am a glutton for punishment.

I also have a trout stream within walking distance full of native Browns.  They usually aren't too big but they're fun, especially the rare Fatboy.

Oh, look,  a brand new signature block from the NWKA gods,  always wanted to be gifted one of those...
I've fished the ocean on both coasts, caught countless trophy fish,  competed in the world predator classic with the best kayak anglers in Europe and managed the largest kayak caught pike,  had photos and articles published in kayak fishing magazines both online and in print,  kayak fished in multiple countries and did well every where I went,  but you catch a few big chubs and suddenly they call you the chub master.
I can't help that the way I wiggle my rod is irresistible to those fat bottom chubs,  wouldn't say I'm a chubby chaser, but they sure like chasing me...
