was browsing a magazine this morning found an ad for a headlight that i hadnt seen before.

personally i've been using a lot of the Coast brand stuff out of oregon both at work and on the water. .. but this one is made by a company that makes professional gear.. like for firefighters, divers, and such, and, well,  surefire doesn't make one,  yet.

anyways, take a look at this one as an alternative to petzl, orion, and the others we all see sold at places like REI, sportsmans warehouse, etc.

I've always used Princeton's and Petzl's for backpacking, but the ones I currently have are not waterproof.  Came across this the other day in the NRS catalog, might buy a couple of them.  I need something that won't die due to rain or a brief dunking, not so worried about it being waterproof more than 3-4 feet.

Yes they are, and I have gotten quite a few items from them over the years and no complaints about anything so far.
my last purchase was a pair of poly-pro long johns @ 14.99 each top and bottom ($30.00)
used a lot of their gear while younger and backpacking/ fishing the wilderness areas of SW oregon, good quality stuff.

I use a streamlight 1,3,9 led headlight. It's surprisingly bright for an led and lasts forever on (3) AAA's

I'm Princeton Gizmo user cuz I'm cheap! ;D I don't worry about the waterproof versions too much since they go under the brims of hats I always use. Someday I'd like to get the Petzl Tikka XP though. Mooch over at NCKA has one and the brightness settings, beam shape, booster, battery meter etc. are really useful. Very cool and very bright unit!
