Damn furbags. That was a quick takedown from deployment to fish on. Cool video, thanks for sharing. :)

Is that the Scotty Orca rod holder? Oh, and nice Outback. Yum Yum Yellow is of course the best color ever, but I'm biased. [emoji6]

I know it's not nice to take delight at other's expense but I was cracking up watching the panic set in.

I'm really sorry you lost the fish but thanks for sharing!

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Yes, it was painful for me to lose that fish. However, it was a good experience and excitement added to the day.

Spot -- along with "panic", add terrified, scared, freaked out to what I was feeling.

Off camera, the sea lion was at my 2 o'clock about 25yds away. It charged straight at the fish...and me. I jerked the rod hard as I saw it hitting the fish. The sea lion surfaced behind me at my 7 o'clock twice. I surveyed around for signs of blood, but couldn't see any. The 30lb line broke at the top hook.

Damn furbags. That was a quick takedown from deployment to fish on. Cool video, thanks for sharing. :)

Is that the Scotty Orca rod holder? Oh, and nice Outback. Yum Yum Yellow is of course the best color ever, but I'm biased. [emoji6]

Yes, that was the third quick take down from deployment. i wasn't able to record the other two. The first one was the only fish caught. I just launched, reached the 30ft depth, lowered my line to 30ft on the line counter, placed the rod on the holder, and BAM! FISH ON!!! The second... I was lowering the bait and my rod tip started bouncing. I didn't know what to do, so I crank the reel to stop the controlled free-spool. The fish was gone.

The rod holder is a Folbe Jr. I used the Orca before this, and much prefer Folbe Jr.
