A good differentiation that made that click for me is that tide is a vertical measure; current is horizontal movement. Not trying to suggest other don't know that,  necessarily... But I didn't until I started fishing... And planning to fish WG.

Well with the change in forecast it doesn't look so good at whiskey gulch on Sunday. 5 ft swell with 20 knots from the south west...

Yeah I definitely understand the difference between tide and current... but I didn't realize that the current continues after the time when high or low is listed in the tide charts. Good to know!
