Not accepting any work this weekend and hope to get out, maybe WG.   Anyone else going out?

I may be down there. I may be in Homer.  I gotta get serious about landing a king.

It all depends on the weather.  Planning my last trip to WG for this year and I would like to battle that king one last time.

GAHHH. It's killing me. We have our daughter's bday party on Sat Morning. By the time it's over, the drive to WG would put us out there for 1 tide change on Sunday...but the chances for a final halibut are thinning with each passing day.

Why couldn't she have been born in Feb?  :-)

Drive safe. This is the time of year where the roads get dangerous. More so than winter. I've lived here since 1971 and I've had more near death experiences the past five years with my kayak driving because of black ice and snow in the pass before I have had studs. I also hit the road earlier than for any other reason. Snow, lots of it, on FB posts in parts of Homer. Summer is over!!!

The Whittier junction is notorious for black ice.

So be careful everyone!!!!!

Also keep an eye on the buoy in Homer.  Looking a tad big now but coming down.  Anything from the SW is going to transalte into potential surf at WG.

Snow in the pass right now by Jean Lake.  Image will change I think so by the time you look, maybe no snow.

Got launched and cruised about 2-3 miles.  Shakedown run. Had to return and tighten the rudder line.  Nothing huge, just made steering, how do you say, challenging.  My lone neighbor is the sea otter carcass on the beach... Lol

Just finished repairs from my WG shakdown. As metioned in an earlier post I got to surf my I Outback for about 30 yards. Fun pedaling, paddling & steering at the same time  but more than it was equipped for. The stress on the rudder mushroomed the rudder pin and broke the steering handle. I have a Hobie welder complements from ACK. Should be good as new. The handle is now a solid piece and more rigid.
