I will be a gameday decision on this, depending on work, weather, and hunting plans.

"This" being defined as the ghost hole inbound run.

Okay, so I am going to the Ghost Hole on Saturday, October 10th. I think I will just play around town on the 11th. Maybe fish for crab off the dock - casting crab traps is very fun if you haven't ever tried it. I don't have time on Sunday for another fishing adventure in the yak.

I am staying at Harborview, so I will be launching from the Garibaldi Marina boat ramp as it's right across the parking lot from my room. If anyone wants to join me that would be great. I have a blue Hobie outback.

I will be launching at about 7 a.m., drop off a crab pot on the way and head to the ghost hole to go salmon fishing. The tide turns about noon and I will ride it back to the marina.

This will only be my second outing into Tillamook Bay and the first for salmon (at this location). I got a chance to go out with some forum members this last Saturday for rockfish.

Anyone want to join me for salmon fishing in the Ghost Hole?

I am down for this, but I think 7am is way too early to launch. High tide at Bay City is 12:30, so a little earlier right at the GH. So, yeah right around noon, slack for about 45 minutes.

I think a 10am launch at Garibaldi puts you in the GH at or before 11am, you have about 1.5 right in and around it with slack or slow tide, back at the launch between 1 and 2pm, all without fighting strong tides (which is easier in your Hobie than those of us still paddling !)

Need to get a wind forecast for Saturday to confirm. Anyone else wanna sync up around 9:30 ?

Yes.  This is best done with 2 people as there's a little elevation drop to the water.  You can access the water from either side.

Ohhhh... I don't know about that. It doesn't sound good at all. Please let me know what I should watch for. I will not be going out if it is dangerous.

I am leaving my house on Friday afternoon and if it looks like it will be icky, I will leave the kayak at home.

Saturday is currently forecast to be heavy rain and strong winds for ssw. So you would get the joy of the tides pushing you up the bay and the wind pushing you back. Water will get choppy and you will be working at it to beat the wind.

I will check again on Friday to see if conditions improve. Otherwise I wont risk it.

It's only Tuesday and this is Oregon.  Wait till Thursday before firming up your plans.

Hey Taylor, Hows It going?
I've been watching forecast a little this week too and the threat of wind is getting bigger for Saturday. Obviously this could change, but wind is at this point building for Sat.
