The next favorable tide for a Homer weekend appears to be the 21st NOV.   I might be able to swing a Friday / Sat  trip that week, but my partner in slime will be traveling.

Anyone else likely to be down the peninsula if the weather is fair ?

nice!!!!  you look like you are getting prepared. I use the downrigger method for shrimp pots though I have very little experience. good threads on here as well as Washington has a season as well.

Well, it may be a bit early still to be sure, but the unsettled weather has me looking at Homer rather pessimistically now.  Today's update looks like the weekend will see a hard west wind kicking up some bigger water.

"Friday NightSW wind 15 to 20 kt becoming W 20 to 25 kt after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 35 kt. Rain before 9pm, then rain and snow. Seas 2 ft building to 8 ft.
SaturdayW wind around 20 kt, with gusts as high as 30 kt. A chance of rain showers before noon, then a chance of snow showers. Seas around 6 ft.
Saturday NightWNW wind 15 to 20 kt. A chance of snow showers. Seas 4 to 6 ft.
SundayWNW wind 10 to 15 kt. A chance of snow showers. Seas around 2 ft."

Maybe the front will shift - but if not I will likely remain parked up north!

I'm keeping a close eye on it, but I'm not optimistic. Looks like I'm going to miss out on my November fish this year.

If I have to, I will be down during the Thanksgiving holidays...I can't let November be the month that I get blanked.  lol.

We will see.  Sunday is a 11:15am High tide perfect.  A good time for a casual drive down from Anchorage.  Hit it hard from noon to 4pm or low light depedning on how desperate I am.  give it a 50/50 right now.

Sunday is looking more and more possible...if the weather forecast is correct.  It might be wishful thinking, but I think big storms scatter bait and the fish.  The spit is more like a crossroads than a place where the fish hang all of the time.  I think if the west winds don't dirty up the water too much, I think there is hope.

I have the kids so I need to take into consideration if my ten year old can fish the waters.  Frankly I think he is more capable in many ways than I am but I have to be the adult and determine what is safe and what is not.  I may just leave the kid home...why should I let him fish with me anyways.  He HAS his November King albeit a small one.  He is old enough to know that outfishing the person nice enough to take him out may get him dis-invited because that's a no brainer....right?  lol.

Rudy, if you make the decision to come down, please let me know. I'd love to fish with you and your son (if you decide to risk more humiliation!).

I conjured up a few rainbows out of the Kenai today, so the pressure is off for me to catch my November fish.

nice!!  way to get the fish in tough conditions. yah yah. give it your best shot. Lol. you have every chance to out fish me. these kings don't discriminate. I catch fish because my bait is in the water longer than most folks. AND I look good since the ultra wide lens on the gopro doesn't show all the fish bring caught around me so it makes me look good. the beauty of being able edit a brutal 12 hour day into a 2 minute video. Lol.

I will let ya know. let's fish!!!!!
