long story short. no fish but we only fished one hour.

steady 20 mph with gusts to 45.

calmed down a bit at 3pm so we went for it. stupid really. it was big big water. not all the time but every few minutes a 5 to 6 ft steep swell would roll through. egads. but that's another hour in the bank. will hit it again in the morning if weather allows.

Too bad the weather didn't cooperate! I hope you have fairer weather tomorrow and can go put a kayak smack down on those kings. Somebody has to make up for my failed attempts, or those fish will start letting it go to their heads.

well the streak is over. I'm done for November.  personal committments, work, and bad weather conspired against me.

But what an amazing awesome day for it to end. I wake up at 6am and it's still dark out. But you can hear a half dozen humpback whales just off shore literally feet from the shore.

we get out and it looks super fishy.  marks on the FF, birds everywhere crashing the water, sea lions tossing pollock, and of course the whales. it was as much life as I have ever seen.

we dodged whales all morning. at around noon, Ryu and I are trolling about 15ft apart. all the sudden the water between our kayaks goes dead calm and you can see the water up welling. no bubbles but I thought for sure a whale was going to come out of the water.  well it did! two kayak lengths away. AWESOME!!!

Shortly after Ryu hooks a bird trolling about 20ft down and we decide enough is enough. Bird was NOT happy and the beak looked sharp!  HAHA.

well a bit relieved the streak is over. maybe I'll go ice fishing. Lol.

I would call that a successful trip! What a great memory with your son. I'm surprised the whales are still around.

it was insane. you could hear them all night from the hotel room. literally just yards offshore. here's Ryu's best takedown...

Tough luck getting the bird, at least it wasn't a fluke. [emoji14]
