With all this winter weather shutting me in side, and being new to Olympia, I thought I would try and learn about a few spots local.
So are the areas around west Oly any good, or viable areas. Like Boston harbor, area around Coopers point, or even black lake.

Offut is a steady producer. Most lakes in our area are closed for the off season. I'll typically either fish starry flounder in the Nisqually flats, or dropshot SMB and perch on American this time of year. When I'm not duck hunting that is.

I miss those Nisqually Flats days!  I don't miss bad timing and walking through peanut butter.

Nisqually is blowing out so much muddy water that visibility is about 6", and that was 2 weeks ago.  It has gotten worse the last few days.
Will trade oral favors for fish.

The river has been running almost the color of the Puyallup since late spring. All this rain is definitely not doing it/us any favors. It's typically a nice green until mid Nov when they crack the gates on Alder Lake.

Ok so details. Where are good launch spots for nisqually flats, and Henderson inlets. What's the "American", river ? I was at tolmie (spelling) state park. Looks like an easy launch there. That's part of the flats right? Also looks like a good place to dive from. What about the west side like Murray road area? Is that worth the effort?

Luhr Beach is the best place to access the Nis flats. Currents are hell right now with all the rain paired with 14'+ high tides.

Tolmie isn't really part if the flats. There are a couple wrecks and artificial reefs out there where I've pulled a few ling, but no legal ones. A few unders and one over. Some people on the beach don't think you can fish out there too, so it's possible to get heckled.

There are a few places around Oly to access Henderson, but I don't waste my time there anymore. If you're a SRC fly fisher it can be great. Not so great for most edibles though.

American Lake has solid populations of SMB, yellow perch, rock bass, kokanee, rainbow and cutthroat trout. It's a good sized lake, and has been around long enough to harbor some bruisers of all the fish I just mentioned.
