What great year 2015 has been. There are a lot of great memories made in 2015 for me. Easily the best year ever for me. I am still working on my highlight reel for 2015 but there are still few weeks left!

But without a doubt, the highlight of 2015 was gaining my ten year old son as a bonafide fishing partner for the same type of fishing I do...big fish off of kayaks. We started him off early taking him to the swimming pools to get him comfortable with the water. Of course he fished the smaller trout and landlocked salmon and such. This year it starts with some stocked rainbows and then pollock off of the spit. repeated handling of smaller less aggressive fish taught him how to handle fish and bait all by himself. But by late summer, he was out fishing me for kings and halibut!

The pictures might be of him at a younger age, but the short video teasers are all from 2015. I hope the final edit of the highlight reel reflects the joy of gaining my son as a bonafide lifetime fishing partner. So here is a short trailer created with iMovie as a very short teaser of of things to come in my 2015 highlight reel.

Thanks Ryu, you made me proud this year and as a proud parent, I wanted to share.

It looks like I may need to take some a/v lessons. Awesome video, from an even better pair of fishermen.

That is awesome.!

I got my kids outside and fishing and hunting very early and continuously.  They are now all grown adults in their 20's, married, and I even have 2 grand kids with a third on the way. (I am only 48- sounds like I am 80).  But this was the first year that all of my sons have been able to get back into duck hunting after about an 8 year pause for college, marriage etc.  Your investment of time now will pay off in so many ways it is unbelievable.  They are not only my sons they are my friends.  The memories, experiences, and trust that is built in adventure creates a relationship that just gets stronger as you move into those years where being able to come to dad and ask how to deal with things is critical.

Great video and keep up the great (and fun) work of being a great dad! :)

Spielbergs got nothing on you Rudy! Can't wait for the full length video. Having two young boys of my own, I can fully understand the special bond between a Dad and his boys...especially on the water.
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga except I get to kill something.
