Is it possible to smooth scrapes and gouges in a Hobie hull?  What's that take to do it right/well?

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

It's probably not worth messing with if they are minor. How deep?

Heat up the back of an old spoon with a butane or LP torch.  Carefully smooth your scratches out.

You'll find the happy balance of heat needed pretty quick.  Start out with not enough heat and work your way up until you get the result you want without using too much heat.

A couple are darned unsightly and you can call me "anal" whenever you want.  Those aren't where I'd want to smooth it; there's an area where the shape of some shallow gouges (too shallow to worry about filling) might cause drag.  I'll have to coast it and see, but if it's a real problem and not just a problem in my head, the spoon method sounds about right to me.

Thanks.

....... might cause drag.

Less drag, just like dimples on a golf ball ;)

I don't think you or your gps will notice a difference.   Have a great time with your new ride.

You sure you want to make that statement with THIS crowd? INSAYN may need to add you to the deserted island list  :o

Soon.  It's still on it's way.  It's shiny and it's red and I'm acting like a second-grader at Christmas.  Which fits.

Merry Christmas to All!

Wishing you and yours a Safe and Happy Holiday.

You'll enjoy that Christmas Gift - accessories, saltwater trips, fly fishing for ocean coho.... plan on filling that freezer in 2016.

Honestly, I am not entirely sure where Mojo was going with his thought there.

We'll give him a hall pass for now, as we know he's been bumped on the head once or twice.  :violent1:

Perhaps "If I was ever stranded on a beach with only hand lotion...You're the guy I'd want with me!" might have something to do with it?

I haven't met Mojo Jojo and don't know if he's had one too many head injuries, but I'm up for letting it slide.  This time.

Yeah, that quote you copied from my siggy was generously coined by my BFF PolyAngler.  He loves me so.  ;D

You've gotta meet Mojo Jojo sometime, he is the combination of a feisty Leprechaun and the Cookie Monster.  ;)

Yep, ran across the original post with that sentence in it yesterday, and the quote in your signature is funnier for having read where it came from.

I may travel more next year and hope to - I hesitate to say "bump" considering poor Mojo Jojo's injuries - into more folks.

Come fish the TBMD2 this May, I should be there  ;). You can also just shoot me a pm for plans to fish the bay or I'm at PC waves and weather permitted.
