Ok its getting bad.  Need to catch something off the kayak before I go nutz.  Anyone know if there are any chances of catching halibut out of WG this time of year?  Besides the gusty winds, the weather is looking promising and the thought of heading south sounds doable. Trolling for kings off the spit might have to be the option if no halibuts.

Thank you in advance.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that January is the only month that halibut fishing is closed. Also the vast majority of halibut have gone to much deeper waters for the winter. King fishing in Homer is probably your best bet.

I feel you on that itch though. May cannot get here soon enough.

Homer hotline says halibut fishing is still running from fall through winter with larger halibut migrating to deeper waters but anglers are still trying their luck. King salmon is definitely still being targeted right on the Kachemak Bay. I might just bring both sets of gear just in case. Hopefully the wind dies down a little bit for a smooth ride down south. Going to check the weather report for Homer before I head down.

You guys are nuts!  LOL.  I've been called that before and still caught fish.

Weather is looking a tad ugly.  Be safe if ya go!  Might try Sunday for kings if the weather calms down a bit.

You're the man Rudy.  Fishing in negative temps during Super Bowl will probably be one of my all time favorite fishing clips.  How do you keep your hands warm?

Weather looks to be decent in Homer this weekend.  Not too bad.  Think I'm more concerned for the drive down than fishing Kachemak Bay.
