hope you are feeling better. those avets are great except they will seize after some heavy use in the salt if they aren't meticulously cleaned.

they aren't bad to service but I did end up missing a tiny washer that impacted performance. I have to send mine somewhere to get it done. but should be easy for you. I'm just a clutz.  couldn't put snap together plastic models as a kid. argh. Lol.

Hey - you fixed that electrical switch without burning down your house !    LOL.   If you think you are missing one of the bent 'belleville' washers, I have about 6 of em I think, they are for the AVET SX5.3 (smaller series).   If you want to take a chance on my reassembly skills I can check out yours after I practice a rebuild or two on mine.   Or, as Low_Sky suggested, get together for reel repair day and a beer or two.    I am thinking weekend of the 23/24th Jan or one of the evenings preceding that.

The problem with AVETs you note is supposedly due to salt (and for us silt) building up on the drag pad/washer.   AVET uses a dry system... And I am seriously considering doing as many have done and putting some drag lube on and around the pad to keep salt intrusion to a minimum.   If your AVET is a few years old, the drag pad is probably not epoxy'd in like the newer ones, and easily replaced if it can't be cleaned.
