I am looking to rig a shotgun mount to my OK Trident 13 for duck hunting. So far, I haven't been able to come up with any ideas on how to set it up. Does anyone have any insight or recommendations they can share? Any help is much appreciated!

You want to set it up pointing forward. If you could mount it on the rod pod and as close to you as possible.
When jump shooting from the kayak I lay the shot gun in my lap with the barrel just over my ankle

Thanks for the info Fungunnin. I was thinking the rod pod seemed the best option.

Yup because you don't want it to get in the way while you paddle.

Do you think it would fit inside the rod pod?  You'd obviously want to rig up something to hold it in place if you did so, but would you be able to reasonably easily get a long gun through the hatch both for stowage but also to retrieve it while seated in the kayak?

Probably, but the retrieval would be too slow for jump shooting ducks. You need to be able to have the gun nearly in your hands.

I can totally see a 12guage paddle in the future!

That would be OK.  I wouldn't likely need that fast an access for my purposes.

I'm afraid of messing up my FF transducer by putting it inside. That would be ideal though.

Maybe you could mod or diy an atv style gun boot so it's up out of any water accumulated in your hull and you know the barrel is not smashing your foam puck/ducer.

Some of that thermo form keel/skid guard stuff might work.

If you're just transporting and not jump shooting,  get a floating shotgun bag and toss it in the tankwell.

Yes! When not actively hunting the gun goes in a floating gun bag.

Also when shooting from the kayak be ready for the recoil.... it can make staying up right a bit tricky.

Now that sounds like something one might want to practice on a warm summer day on a warm lake with a lanyard on the shotgun. Just sayin!

Shooting clays put of the kayak sounds like a damn good time .... just hope you have access to a private lake.

I really appreciate all of your input guys. It is going to take a lot of practice before I go out and hunt. Should be a ton of fun though.
