Yes. You will need an OR license, Columbia River Basin endorsement, and an Aquatic Invasive Species Permit, if your boat is 10ft. or longer.

I do not remember if day licenses cover the Columbia River Basin endorsement - but I think they do - so check that if you're just getting a day license.

Aquatic Invasive Species permits are $5 + $2 fee and are good for the calendar year.

If they just wanted to fish the main Columbia and stay away from Oregon backwaters a WA license should work.  If you're fishing for bass I don't think you need a Columbia Basin Endorsement.

Good point on the WA licenses - you don't need an OR license if you're in the mainstem.

How does that work for the AIS then? If you launch from OR, but fish on a WA license, do you have to have an AIS for the day? Probably not.

Also good point on the CRBE - I was incorrect on that. I thought that applied to all fishing, but it only applies to salmon, steelhead, and strugeon (http://www.dfw.state.or.us/fish/CRP/columbia_river_basin_endorsement.asp).

With the AIS permit I think it depends on the LEO you run into and what kind of day they are having.

I've been checked on the Columbia and told if I show my WA license I don't need an AIS.  On the other hand SUPers get hassled all the time about them.

Ok.... I looked it up.  As I'm reading it a WA boat on the mainstem Columbia doesn't need an  Oregon AIS.

I heard one caveat somewhere... To fish under a WA license must you launch from the WA side?

No. It doesn't matter which side you launch from, as long as you are fishing the main river.

During salmon season there are as many WA trailers as OR ones at Heritage Landing, Mayer West, and Hood River ramps.

Thought I should add this.

Although you could easily win the event without an Oregon license or AIS permit... you would have more options and your odds would go up if you could fish backwaters in both states.

Boundaries are anywhere in the Bonneville pool. as long as you can make it to the weigh in you can fish where ever you choose.

Good possibility I can make this one.   Kayak Shed's site doesn't show a registration link.  New site so maybe they're still working out kinks.

I did find this link to last year's event with some info.

I'm guessing the regs for the tournament are the same as last year. We are just going off length of single largest bass. Since this a CPR tourney i should be ok with just my WA license and an invasive species permit for the yak from Oregon, especially since i don't plan on "landing" and fish in Oregon.

Hope to see some familiar faces, and meet some new ones! should be a good time
