I'm looking at buying a place at Pacific beach . I'm curious what's the kayak fishing like there and what is it like launching out of that area.  Anyone hit that area ?

Do a search in the forums!  I've never launched there but threads about it are all over the forum if you'll just search...
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

You will need to head south to Ocean Shores or Westport to launch. Getting through the surf in P B is dicey... Coming back is tough. The surf zone is super shallow for a long ways. I know a group of kayakers comes here with the super short sit- inside yaks, but fishing kayaks are another story. Wear a helmet, pick your day, leashes mandatory.... Pray. Lol.

I stopped at Pacific Beach earlier this year on the way to Westport, and it is too much surf for me to launch. Even Westport can be sketchy depending on the weather. Pacific beach is supposed to be good for razor clams tho! Also the rivers in the area are really good when the chinook, pinks, and silvers are running.

 Hi blownglass,

I lived in Grays Harbor for 27 years and for 10 of those years was the garbage man on North Beach (not that that matters --- just that I could talk to a lot of other fishermen all over the area). Have fished most of the waters of Grays Harbor county so  I may have some ideas about fishing there.
Never did launch into the salt at Pacific Beach . Never looked like it would be worth it to me, unless you were hunting surf perch. Now... Joe Creek , just south of PB is another story. It has a very nice run of native silvers from October thru December. You can drag a kayak to the water right beside the Hwy 109 bridge. Fish upstream from there to the bridge on Ocean Beach Rd. Not much navigable water above there.
Going north will put you on the Quinault Reservation where you'll need a native guide to fish. I'd highly recommend fishing the Quinault River in the fall. Great fishing, no crowds, lots of wildlife on shore, and a beautiful area.
Going south Fish the Copalis River. Put in above the 109 bridge and fish either up or down from there. Good run of slivers and occasional king will show up. Stop by the Green Lantern for a burger and a beer after fishing. Good people there.
The Humptulips River is also nearby to Pacific Beach. One of the best rivers on the Olympic Peninsula. All salmon except sockeye here. Pretty good steelheadin' too. Do some research and you'll see.
If you are only wanting salt water-- head on down to Ocean Shores. You can launch off the beach in some places or go down to the "sunken jetty" at the south end of town. We had a pretty good discussion about this a few years back here on NWKA.
Those would be the highlights of the North Beach area in my opinion. A little bit more driving opens up other spots-- mostly further north. Good luck in your quest. I hope this helps in some way.

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Joe Creek is an awesome spot. Two problems to deal with...
#1- tons & tons of snags. Be prepared to put in your time learning where the " holes " are and be prepared to lose some tackle. Pay attention to the tide & weather. A woman almost drowned the year before last getting pinned between a snag and the outgoing tide. Her boyfriend was lucky to save her.
#2- there have been numerous times as of late that the sewage treatment plant has run into Joe Creek 🤒🤕😢. I guess one could argue that the salmon are just passing through but it still gets vest me the "willies."
