Great article listed by bsteves on page two of the home page. This is pretty much exactly what I use, with the float, snap, line and all.

I bought this dive reel.
Scuba Max 270 foot Dive Reel Blue with thumb stopper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E698VHK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_dw9Qwb35ACQGH
Its got 270ft of line but its really thin.  The line strength is supposed to be 220lbs but with it being so thin I was worried about it cutting into my hands when pulling up the anchor so I stripped it all off and replaced it with a thicker paracord.  Now instead of having 270ft I now have about 80ft of line.  Doh!  So now I went the way everyone else did and got an extension cord reel and put 300ft of 550 paracord on it.  I'll keep the dive reel for use in the shallows of the lake or maybe as a magnet fishing setup.  [emoji6]

Hey, I like the looks of that Scuba Max dive reel.  Perhaps you could replace the original line with something which is thick enough to pull up by hand, but thinner than paracord, like Ashaway 200 pound test tuna leader?

Nope!

I don't use that heavy of an anchor on my kayak that requires any extra hardware to pull it up.  Those EZ Marine pullers are really for the heavy river (rocker) anchors that are shoulder burners used on a normal boats.

from link to  bsteves post  from lostone39, "i use a 3 lb folding anchor, 3ft chain,200ft 1/4in line, marine ez pull a buoy, and the same  extension cord winder on the columbia.it works great.i undue my quick release turn around paddle up to buoygrab my   extension cord winder set it inbetween my legs paddle up till my anchor is up to my buoy then wind up the anchor line as i float down to it.and if i have to let every thing go no problem the ez pull holds the anchor up 4 me.i have bad hands so its a little hard 4 me to pull a thin line back up 200ft with a 3lb anchor.but i can still hold a paddle and a pole!! "

i can relate with his hands thing but for me its my arm. neck surgery left me with a weak arm and even tho will start with a 10 lb pyramid that is not the big anchors i know these are typically used for but it appeals to me to let the yak do the pulling and just reeling up the slack instead of hand over hand.

Another anchor reel setup is described at http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=15510.msg168110#msg168110 .
+1 on this setup.   I did basically the same thing but not so fancy.  Wire reel with the 200lb tuna cord, and a simple loop of bungee cord to hold the existing winding post when the line's set.
