Saw a boat entering the marina at Newport this week that I thought had a great name......E. Z. Hooker.

My 16' aluminum boat is named P.A. Time.  I named it after the "Personal Absence" time that I sold back to work to pay for it.  ;D

I tried describing the color of my boat to one of my friends...and all I could think of was Otter Pop Orange.  I've been tossing around the idea of calling her Otter Pop.  Or maybe just the "Otter."  Better yet, I should find the name of the orange otter pop (you know how they all used to have names?)

Every time I see my boat I try and think of an appropriate name for her.  After all, on our maiden voyage we did catch our selves some fish...I think we've only been skunked once.  Its only proper for me to name her.

Well, couldn't help myself, I immediately looked up the names of the old Otter Pops.  (In case anybody has no clue what I'm talking about, they're frozen popsicle.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otter_Pops...Each color used to be a different personality, and the wrapper had a face on it with a name)

The orange one was Little Orphan Orange, not sure its quite a good kayak name.  I wouldn't want my boat to turn around and orphan me.

The quest goes on!

I know what ya mean about not having them all right on the tip of you're tongue.  They are like good pickup lines, only you can't remember them when ya really need one.   :evil5:

I Just bought a Malibu two XL for the family and after her maiden voyage two days ago we went to Chinese food and my fourtune cookie said "you will be spending some time on the water soon". The cookie must have been referring to the new yak, so we thought it only fitting to name her "Cookie".
Enjoy the ride!

Hi all. This forum has been a great source of info as I paddled into the world of kayak fishing this summer.

I hope you'll all welcome me and my 10' NuCanoe, "The Tick" - so named because it's short and wide, tough and green, and pretty much looks like a giant tick when it's strapped to the roof of my car. Also I like the cartoon.

Yo, MrLucky-

Are you launching your "Tick" at Teddy Bear Cove? ::) Looks like Chuckanut Dr., in the background of your photo...

Haven't launched it on the salt yet. I'm afraid I might catch something bigger than the boat.  :o

The pic is on Highway 20, just before Ross Lake. I was heading for a week on Banks Lake with my wife, earlier this summer.

Welcome to NWKA Mr. Lucky. Just get out on the big blue a few times and you'll be hoping you catch something bigger then your Yak.
See ya on the water..

Hey MrLucky (Hmmm ... something slightly creepy about calling a guy MrLucky on the internet ...  ;D).

Tell us a bit about your experiences on the NuCanoe.  We dont' see too many people with those here.

OK, whatever you say, Mr. polepole.    ;)

The Nucanoe has done its job pretty well on the little lakes I tend to take it out on. It's only 10' long, which is all the space I have in the condo storage locker, but it's steady as a rock and I don't have to pay any attention to minor annoyances like motorboat wakes. That said, I am leery of taking it out on the Sound - no scupper holes.

It is very maneuverable, but not fast. It's a good workout taking it across any decent-sized water. There's lots of room for everything I need for fishing, and I can even throw my 110lb wife in the front on the rare occasions she wants to go. Everything's modular: the seats can be placed front, back and center, and rod holders can be moved accordingly. I added an anchor and paddle holder myself, though the company offers to do that for you (at considerable expense).

Had I the room, I would probably have opted for the 12' model. As it is, I'll keep this one, and probably buy a 14-15' SINK for speed, when we move into larger digs.
