Whidbey Island kayakers

Any body have any more details on the kayakers that capsized up by Whidbey Island?

I haven't heard any more about the Whidbey incident.  Not sure why they didn't stay with their kayaks and push them to shore.  Might have been strong currents at the time but.... I grew up just down from Hope Island, and have kayaked this area for many years.  You do need to watch the tides and weather, just like any kayak outing.

If they were indeed in the water over an hour that tells me the had the right safety gear....

The kayakers later told the Coast Guard they had been in the water for more than an hour before making their way to shore.

The Coast Guard did not identify the kayakers.

The water and air temperatures were both in the mid-40s with winds up to 30 knots, the Coast Guard reported.
