Great meeting folks and hanging on the water.  Nicole and I had a great trip.  No pics because I suck but a short little report follows.

Saturday we started late. My fault, left gloves at home and tend to have cold hands.  Pretty rough out, fished a bit and then headed in as it didn't seem to be improving. Chatted with Low_Sky, gravesjacob, and Austin (not sure who that is here).  Saw Mong907 out as well.

Sunday was beautiful.  Calm seas, practically no wind.  We were there to target some halibut and managed a pair each.  Seemed like there was a trough in about 189' of water where we could consistently pick them up in front of the condos. Just small chickens but this time of year who is complaining.   Floated around another hour or so as Nicole wanted to catch a skate (for the experience I guess) but she kept pulling in halibut.  Got off the water about 4pm and packed up, had some food and drove home.  Super jealous of you folks who live down closer than me, that drive was long.

Figure another 8 weeks and hopefully the larger 'butt will be moving back in. Til then, tight lines and following seas.

cool.  my experience has been similar Gravesjacob. I did have a perfect shiny belly no color but thin fish be semi chalky. lol.

I'm going to try a few different things this year to see how much difference it makes.  one is to shove a guitar or piano wire up the spine as an example. not sure to what extent I'll bleed the fish though...a few inure or completely....

The best way I have found to bleed one is cut around the tail seems to work really well fillets are clean and it just pours out only problem is the bigger the fish the harder it is to do that

I've only kept three halibut ever, but I haven't found the magical bleed-out spot yet.  On king mackerel in the Gulf of Mexico, if you hit the right spot you get the artery that supplies blood to the gills and it's like turning on a faucet.  If you don't have them pointed over the side when you make the cut you end up with a mess to clean up.

Great meeting you guys on Sunday. I should have fished for butts with you guys, I never connected with Mr. King. Tried trolling herring behind a dodger and coho killer behind a flasher with 10 oz. Oh well it was good to be out on the water again.
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga except I get to kill something.
