On March 12 we kayaked the Alberton Gorge on the Clark Fork River, which is about 40 miles west of Missoula, stopping for some fishing on the way.  I caught and released a couple of nice rainbows.

Beautiful area, would love to spend some time exploring that part of the US. Only parts of Montana I've been to are around Red Lodge. I need to spend a spring and summer fishing there.

We've had week after week of above-freezing weather.  The ice is breaking up on lakes, and the backcountry skiing sucks unless you get really high. This weekend I put away my ice fishing gear, assembled my kayak fishing gear, and went kayak fishing on Flathead Lake.
