Good afternoon,

I just recently bought an angling kayak. I recently separated from the military, and have found myself in need of a hobby. Kayak fishing seems to fit the bill. I am originally from south-east Georgia, and primarily fished freshwater. Occasionally I would hit the tributaries and catch some reds. I am excited to do some fishing here in the great PNW. Last year I caught plenty of trout, but bass seem to be a lot more elusive up here. I tried some salt water but got skunked earlier this month. Any tips, tricks, suggestions are greatly appreciated. Have a great week.

Welcome! I fell in love with bass fishing in Maryland and it is quite an adjustment targeting them in the PacNW. I don't have it all figured out by any means but it sure is fun to keep trying. I'm sure some locals will pipe up but a fun fishery in your area is the flounder in the sound. If you look on here and youtube there is good advice. Search for "nisqually flounder".

Looking forward to hearing more from you soon!
